A Business Computing degree is designed with the goal of advancing your career in mind. In addition to pursuing all aspects of Information technology (electronic office programming, databases, and multimedia) you will also be taught the essential areas of business like management and marketing, accounting, finance and economics. This will equip you with the ability and understanding to analyze and design computer systems that meet a business user’s needs.
You will learn about the fundamentals of computing, such as data analytics and software development. But, you will also acquire essential knowledge about areas of business like management, consultancy and IT operations, as well as how digital technology is changing businesses. You will also acquire the broad capabilities that employers are looking for in IT professionals such as leadership, teamwork, and management.
We have strong links with industry and you can work on real-world briefs and undertake a placement. You will get to experience first-hand the ways the modern business makes use of IT and you will be able to develop your own solutions that help to solve real-world problems.
Many graduates are employed in roles that require a mix of business and IT abilities, such as software developers or project managers. Others choose to work for businesses such as banks and insurance companies or even start their own business with their IT and vocational skills. Some opt to work in the grey area between business and IT in roles such as IT security officer or consultant.
